This Year, The Debt Of The Power Sector Will Increase By Another 100 Billion, The Plan Is Shared With The IMF

In the current financial year, the revolving debt of the power sector will increase by another 100 billion rupees, the plan of which has been shared with the IMF.

Moqar Qaumi newspaper said in its report concerning sources that the revolving debt of the power sector has increased from 2400 billion rupees, by June 2025 the revolving debt of the electricity sector will exceed 2550 billion rupees.

Sources say that the IMF has expressed serious concern over the lack of control of the revolving debt of the power sector. The IMF has been assured to make timely tariff adjustments to control the revolving debt of the power sector.

Power Division sources have revealed that the IMF has demanded that the circular debt in the electricity sector not exceed Rs. 2,500 billion. The circular debt was also not controlled according to the shared plan with the IMF during the last fiscal year.

Sources further said that according to the conditions of the last financial year, the revolving debt of the power sector was to be controlled at 2310 billion, if the revolving debt is not controlled, the loan agreement will be violated.
