The Federal Government, the Prime Minister, and the President of Pakistan have been made parties in the petition filed. In the petition, the Registrar’s Office objected that the Lahore High Court was not the relevant forum for the petition.
The position was taken in the petition that according to the constitution, the most senior judge of the Supreme Court has to become the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is now the most senior judge of the Supreme Court.
The petition stated that the PML-N and PPP did not have the required number of MNAs to amend the constitution, the notification of Justice Qazi Faiz Isa as Chief Justice was issued before his swearing-in.
It is requested that the Lahore High Court order the government to issue a notification for the appointment of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah as Chief Justice. Later, the court overruled the registrar’s office’s objection to issuing the notification of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah as Chief Justice. The court also issued an order appointing the Registrar’s Office to hear the main application.
