In Saudi Arabia, the Passport Department has said that resident foreigners should renew their Iqama immediately upon expiry.
According to the report of the Saudi news agency, the passport department says in this regard that ‘after the expiry of the period of Iqama, three days are given for renewal’.
“Penalty is imposed for the delay in renewal after the expiry of three days”.
The passport department further informed that ‘for the delay in renewal of Iqama for the first time, the penalty amount is increased to 500 Rials and for the second delay, the fine amount is increased to 1000 Rials’.
On the other hand, the good news for those wishing to work in Saudi Arabia is that the kingdom has announced a major facility for temporary work visas.
Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has made important updates regarding temporary work visa or season work visa for Hajj and Umrah services.
Previously, temporary work visas allowed an individual to stay in the Kingdom for up to 90 days but the latest change in regulations will allow season visa holders to extend their stay by another 90 days.
The decision is part of wider reforms approved by the Saudi cabinet. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), this is aimed at facilitating the private sector and providing facilities between visa policies and labor market demands.
