Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Aamir Farooq, remarked that the case of Intizar Panjotha is deeply concerning and a source of embarrassment for all. He revealed that even his acquaintances in Islamabad have received extortion slips.
During a hearing on the petition for the recovery of PTI founder’s focal person, Intizar Panjotha advocates Ali Bukhari and Shoaib Shaheen stated that Panjotha is currently in Lahore but is not mentally or physically well enough to appear.
The Chief Justice directed the police to record Panjotha’s statement and conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. He noted seeing Panjotha’s situation on television, calling it distressing and embarrassing for the institutions and everyone involved, highlighting the rise in missing persons and street crime incidents.
Addressing the Additional Attorney General, the Chief Justice urged that even if this case is treated as an abduction for ransom, preventive measures should be in place.
He remarked that the law and order situation in Islamabad has become extremely poor. The court ordered the recording of Panjotha’s statement and dismissed the recovery petition.
