The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) contacted the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) on the issue of increasing the number of judges and the service chief’s tenure from the parliament and arranged an important meeting.
According to sources, a high-level delegation of PTI led by Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Ali will meet JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman today.
The PTI delegation will come to meet Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence this afternoon.
In the meeting, there will be a consultation regarding the amendments approved by the Parliament, while the opposition parties will decide the plan of action for the future situation.
It should be noted that yesterday Acting President Yusuf Raza Gilani approved the bills passed by the National Assembly and the Senate regarding the increase in the tenure of service chiefs and the number of judges.
After the signing of Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, all the six amendment bills have become law, and all these laws have been sent for gazette notification.
The National Assembly and the Senate on Monday approved six bills under which the tenure of Army, Navy, and Air Force chiefs has now been increased from three to five years.
