According to the sources, plans are being made to increase electricity consumption by giving relief to consumers under the winter package, joint working of the power division, finance ministry, and other institutions is going on for the winter package.
Sources say that under the winter package, electricity prices are likely to be reduced by Rs 8 for 3 months, the final approval of this package will be subject to the approval of the IMF.
There are 3 different proposals to reduce the price under the package for winter, the proposal to make all electricity consumers part of the winter package is under consideration, in the case of the winter package for all consumers the price can be reduced by Rs.8 while A proposal to increase consumption by giving relief only to industrial consumers is also under consideration for the package.
According to the sources, in case the package is limited to industrial consumers, the first proposal has been given for a reduction of 20 rupees and a period of three months from December to February 2025 for the package, while under the second proposal, the period of the winter package should be from December to April. Perhaps, relief to industrial consumers in the winter package under the plan will be a priority.
Sources say that for the proposed package, the officials of the Ministry of Finance had a discussion with the IMF, and a formal report was also submitted on the questions sent by the IMF officials.
