The price of essential commodities in the country has recorded an increase of 0.07 percent on a weekly basis and 3.71 percent on an annual basis.
According to the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, in the week ending December 12, the prices of 11 essential items of daily use in the country decreased and the prices of 22 remained stable.
During the last week, the price of onion increased by 3.58 percent, tomato by 3.10 percent, eggs by 2.14 percent, garlic by 1.58 percent, gram dal by 1.19 percent, rice by 0.75 percent, dal mash by 0.59 percent, flour by 0.58 percent and firewood by 0.16 percent. A decrease was recorded.
The prices of 18 items increased marginally, the price of chicken by 3.80 percent, Adhai banaspati ghee by 2.27 percent, banana by 1.99 percent, potato by 1.93 percent, mustard oil by 1.07 percent, five liters of cooking oil by 0.98 percent, washing soup by 0.80 percent, one kg. Banaspati Ghee 0.52%, Energy Saver 0.31%, LPG 0.28 percent and the price of cigarettes increased by 0.26 percent.
The consumer price-sensitive index is determined on the basis of price fluctuations of 51 essential commodities in 50 markets of 17 major cities of the country.
