A small plane (two-seater glider) of Al Jazeera Sports Club in the United Arab Emirates crashed into the sea off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah, killing the pilot and his companion.
According to the Emirates news agency WAM, the Civil Aviation Authority confirmed this on Sunday, saying that “an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.”
It has been reported that the Air Accident Investigation Sector of the authority has received the report of the accident.
According to Khaleej Times, the accident took place near the Cove Rotana Hotel on the beach at 2:00 pm on Sunday shortly after take-off.
Dr. Sulaiman Al-Majid’s father, Majid Makram, said that “the dead include a 29-year-old Pakistani female pilot and a 26-year-old Indian Dr. Sulaiman Al-Majid.”
‘My son had rented a glider, and family members including his parents and younger brother were at the aviation club to witness the experience.’
“After that, Dr. Sulaiman’s younger brother had to take the next flight,” he said.
The family said that the glider lost radio contact, and then it was reported that it had made an emergency landing. When they arrived at the hospital, they were told that both were seriously injured and efforts were being made to save them. .’
‘We were looking forward to the New Year as a family. There was a program to celebrate it together. It feels like time has stopped for us. Solomon was the light of our lives. We don’t know how to proceed.’
The authority has expressed its condolences and sympathies to the families and friends of those who died in the accident.
