After a special campaign by the traffic police against citizens driving without a license in Karachi, the rush of citizens increased in the driving license branches.
27 thousand more driving licenses were issued on these days of this month compared to 21 days of last month.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Training and Licenses Iqbal Dara said that last year the trend of obtaining a driving license was very low, in mid-December on his notice, the Sindh government started a strict action against those who drive without a driving license. A large number of citizens are reaching the license branches and the number of new driving license holders has doubled as compared to the previous one.
According to Iqbal Dara, from December 1, 2024, to December 21, 24111 new or learner driving licenses, 7384 permanent and 9552 citizens renewed their old licenses, thus the total number of 21 days was 41047.
He said that after the start of the traffic police campaign, citizens are applying for driving licenses in large numbers, from January 1, 2025, to January 21, 44845 learner licenses were issued, and 9887 people got permanent driving licenses while renewing The number of those is 13218.
He says that if we compare the two months, 26903 more licenses were made in just 21 days.
Iqbal Dara said that citizens can renew the learner’s driving license or the old license sitting at home.
