ISLAMABAD: In the joint session of Parliament, the government passed 4 important bills, which include the Trade Arrangements Amendment Bill 2021, the National Institute of Technology Bill 2023, the National Institute of Excellence Bill 2024, and the Import and Export Regulation Amendment Bill 2023.
The session started one hour late under the chairmanship of the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other important political figures were also present in the House.
During the meeting, there was a strong protest from the opposition, PTI members entered the House with placards and shouted slogans. The opposition raised slogans against the PECA Act and also demanded the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
The opposition members demanded the provision of the microphone on the point of objection, which the Speaker refused, leading to heat and chaos in the House. The opposition threw away copies of the agenda and shouted slogans.
