The price of sugar at utility stores has been increased from Rs 140 to Rs 145 per kg.
According to sources, it has been decided to raise the prices of sugar as prices rise in the open market.
Utility Stores Corporation sources say that despite this increase, the Chinese open market at utility stores is cheaper.
It should be noted that the federal cabinet had formed a committee last week to shut down the operations of utility stores.
The Federal Minister for Industry and Production has been appointed as the head of the committee.
The federal cabinet has directed the committee to submit a report within a week.
