Australian captain Pete Cummins is likely to be out of the Champions Trophy.
He is suffering from ankle suffering due to which he could not start bowling, replacing Steve Smith’s captaincy in the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka.
Australian team head coach Andrew McDonald confirmed the talks with Travis Head and Steve Smith to captain the team. He said that Pat Cummins had not yet started bowling, due to injury, and they were likely to be out of the Champions Trophy.
The head coach said that in his absence we would need a new captain, he said, adding that the situation would be clear after medical reports came in the next few days.
Josh Hazel Wood also suffered an injury after Pat Cummins before the Champions Trophy, which fears that they too will not be able to attend the event, but no final decision has been made about Pat Cummins and Josh Hazel.
