Lahore: Former New Zealand cricket captain and experienced batter Kane Williamson has expressed confidence in Babar Azam’s abilities, stating that he is a world-class player and will soon regain his rhythm.
Speaking at a press conference after New Zealand’s victory against South Africa in Lahore, Williamson shared his positive experience of playing in Pakistan and appreciated the opportunity to play two major matches.
He also praised teammate Rachin Ravindra, stating that he is progressing well and it remains to be seen how quickly he recovers.
Following the win against South Africa, Williamson mentioned that the team now has a few days of rest before the final of the tri-nation series, which will help them stay fresh.
The 34-year-old cricketer reiterated that playing in Pakistan has been a great experience and that they had two good matches. He acknowledged that the pitch conditions were not easy but emphasized the importance of participating in the tri-series.
He also commended the South African players for their hard work and strong performance, adding that his team’s partnerships played a key role in successfully chasing the target.
Williamson further remarked that the competition in the Champions Trophy is always intense, and back-to-back victories have boosted the team’s confidence. He emphasized that the batters played well, and the team is now fully prepared for the final.
