A fatwa has been issued against renowned Tamil actor and politician Thalapathy Vijay by Maulana Shahabuddin Rizvi Barelvi, President of the All India Muslim Jamaat and Chief Mufti of Chashma Darul Ifta.
The fatwa accuses Vijay of anti-Islamic behavior and exploiting religious sentiments for political gain.
It further states that Vijay invited individuals to the iftar party who were neither fasting nor adhering to Islamic teachings, some of whom are allegedly involved in alcohol consumption and gambling.
Such actions are considered a desecration of the holy month of Ramadan and are against Islamic principles.
Maulana Rizvi also alleged that Vijay portrayed Muslims as terrorists and extremists in his films, specifically citing the movie “The Beast,” in which Muslims were allegedly shown in a negative light.
He claimed that Vijay’s films have depicted Muslims as “beast-like” and “devilish,” which is unacceptable.
Maulana Rizvi accused Thalapathy Vijay of entering politics from the film industry and attempting to win Muslim favor despite having a history of anti-Islamic tendencies.
He urged Muslims in Tamil Nadu to distance themselves from Vijay, avoid attending his events, and refrain from inviting him to any religious gatherings.
It is worth noting that some Sunni Muslims have also filed complaints with the police, objecting to un-Islamic activities at the iftar gathering.
