According to media reports, following the recent terrorist attack in the Pahalgam area of Indian-occupied Kashmir, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), under government pressure, has refused to play any form of cricket with Pakistan.
The BCCI stated that, considering the Pahalgam incident and the current diplomatic situation, no cricket matches at any level will be held with Pakistan.
A board spokesperson cited security concerns as the reason for the decision and warned that even Pakistan-India matches in ICC events could be reconsidered. The previous day, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam had resulted in the killing of 26 tourists. Without investigation, India blamed Pakistan, and the board announced a cricket boycott under government directive.
Following the BCCI’s statement, questions have also arisen regarding tournaments like the Asia Cup and the Champions Trophy.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not issued any official statement in response to India’s unilateral decision.
It is worth noting that the last ODI series between Pakistan and India was played in 2012. Since then, both teams have only faced each other in ICC events.
