The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced that all mobile phone SIMs registered against Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) that expired in 2017 and have not yet been renewed will be blocked on June 30, 2025.
According to a NADRA spokesperson, this decision aims to enhance citizen identification and strengthen the national security system. All SIMs registered under expired CNICs from 2017 will be deactivated to prevent the misuse of mobile services through fake or inactive identities.
NADRA has advised citizens to immediately visit their nearest NADRA office or use the Pak-ID mobile app to renew their CNICs promptly and avoid long queues at service centers.
The spokesperson warned that blocking mobile services could severely impact essential activities such as banking transactions, Easypaisa, JazzCash, online services, security codes, and OTPs. Users who rely on mobile SIMs for daily financial operations or digital authentication may face serious inconvenience.
NADRA emphasized that this step is crucial to ensure national security, system transparency, and the correct use of digital identity. Citizens have been urged to take this notice seriously and update their identification records promptly to avoid any disruption in services.
