Following the Swat tragedy, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has issued immediate orders for the installation of safety barriers along the banks of the Swat River to prevent such incidents in the future.
According to the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, instructions have also been issued to increase daily patrolling by security personnel along the Swat River and other tourist spots. Additionally, all activities related to soil excavation near the river have been ordered to stop immediately.
The spokesperson stated that orders have been given to remove all encroachments in Swat and surrounding areas without discrimination. The irrigation department has been placed on high alert and instructed to ensure all necessary precautionary measures.
Furthermore, all illegally constructed hotels are to be demolished immediately, and obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) has been made mandatory for hotels located near the river. The district administration has been directed to ensure the removal of all encroachments within three days
