The General Authority overseeing the affairs of Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Nabawi in Saudi Arabia has urged Umrah pilgrims and worshippers to strictly follow safety guidelines during rainfall to ensure their protection.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the safety instructions include staying in designated safe areas, using umbrellas, monitoring weather alerts, adhering to official instructions, and turning off mobile phones during lightning. Pilgrims can contact the helpline at 1966 for any information or assistance.
It is worth noting that the Haramain administration, in collaboration with various government bodies, implements emergency plans at Masjid al-Haram during rain to ensure the safety of worshippers. These guidelines are intended to create a secure and well-organized environment for worship.
In a separate development, a new travel facilitation has been introduced for residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Those transiting through Saudi Arabia on international travel can now avail a free stopover visa to perform Umrah during their short stay.
This visa is available only to travelers flying via Saudia Airlines or flynas, and can be used to visit Makkah or Madinah for religious purposes, including Umrah or Ziyarat.
The special visa allows a stay of up to 96 hours (4 days) within the Kingdom. While the visa itself is free, a nominal fee is charged for processing and mandatory medical insurance.
