US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that the United States is closely monitoring the situation between Pakistan and India on a daily basis.
In an interview with NBC News, Rubio stated that maintaining a ceasefire is never easy; it is always complicated and challenging, as such agreements often break down very quickly. He explained that the US monitors conditions in various regions every day, including Pakistan and India, Cambodia, and Thailand, to ensure that ceasefires remain in place.
Rubio added that a ceasefire is only possible when both parties show willingness to stop fighting.
Speaking about Ukraine and Russia, he remarked that ceasefires can collapse very quickly, especially in light of the Ukraine war, which has now continued for three and a half years. According to him, Russia has not yet agreed to any such arrangement, making it extremely difficult to sustain peace.
He stressed that the ultimate goal is to reach a peace agreement so that current wars can be halted and future conflicts can be prevented.
