Karachi: In a major crackdown against hoarders, the Sindh Agriculture Department has recovered 45,000 bags of urea fertilizer from a warehouse in Badin. The operation comes amid growing concerns over fertilizer shortages affecting farmers across the province.
According to the department’s spokesperson, the raid was conducted under the Sindh Fertilizers Control Act and supervised by Badin’s Additional Director of Agriculture, Imtiaz Bhutto. Officials revealed that the massive stockpile of fertilizer, worth millions of rupees, had been hoarded without a valid license.
During the operation, staff present at the warehouse managed to flee the scene. Authorities have since sealed the facility and initiated legal proceedings against its owners. Officials emphasized that the crackdown is part of efforts to protect farmers’ rights and curb artificial shortages created by black market profiteers.
