Karachi: Light drizzle and intermittent showers early Friday morning brought pleasant weather to various parts of Karachi but also left low-lying areas beginning to flood. Residents welcomed the cool breeze and refreshing rain, though waterlogging in some neighborhoods caused inconvenience.
According to reports, rainfall was recorded in Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Defence, Qayyumabad, Korangi Road, Burns Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, Gulistan-e-Johar, Nazimabad, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. University Road, Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Colony, and Baloch Colony also experienced light showers.
The Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms with heavy showers in Karachi over the next two days, warning that downpours could submerge low-lying areas. Authorities have advised citizens to take precautions and avoid unnecessary movement during intense rainfall.
Meanwhile, the monsoon system continued to batter other parts of Sindh. Heavy rains were reported in Hyderabad, Sujawal, Thatta, Sukkur, Obaro, Daharki, Mirpur Mathelo, and Naushahro Feroze, disrupting daily life and traffic.
According to the Met Office, the spell is expected to intensify, with more heavy rains forecast in different cities of Sindh through September 10. Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Khairpur, and Shaheed Benazirabad are among the districts most likely to be affected.
