Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has praised Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision and leadership, describing it as a beacon of hope for flood victims across the country.
Memon said Bilawal Bhutto has always shared the pain of the people, and under his leadership, the PPP will not rest until every affected family is rehabilitated. He noted that Bilawal’s recent statement on social media regarding flood victims was a clear reflection of his compassion and far-sighted approach.
“Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has consistently stood with the people in times of crisis, and even today his top priorities remain the poor, the farmers, and the families devastated by natural disasters,” Memon remarked.
He welcomed the federal government’s decision to declare an environmental and agricultural emergency on Bilawal Bhutto’s demand, calling it the outcome of his effective and visionary leadership that has brought national attention to the plight of the victims.
However, Memon expressed disappointment that the federal government had not yet announced a relief package for flood victims under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), despite Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s personal assurance to Bilawal Bhutto. He added that people in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and particularly South Punjab, were still waiting for relief.
Memon further stated that Bilawal Bhutto was correct in highlighting the incomprehensible delay in appealing for global aid through the United Nations platform. He stressed that the PPP would continue to be the voice of the people at every forum and would present resolutions in assemblies to make flood rehabilitation a part of the national agenda.
He also pointed out that Bilawal Bhutto recently visited flood-affected areas in Central Punjab, South Punjab, and Sindh to personally review the situation. Following these visits, he held meetings with the Sindh Chief Minister and the provincial agriculture minister to formulate practical plans for farmers’ recovery and the revival of the agricultural sector.
Sharjeel Memon concluded by saying that agriculture was the hardest-hit sector during the floods and that rebuilding the lives of farmers was at the heart of Bilawal Bhutto’s vision. He added that the Sindh government was already taking concrete measures in this regard while expecting strong cooperation from the federal government.
