A tragic incident occurred in Oman’s territorial waters where 23 fishermen from the village of Khojri in Bannu drowned. According to reports, one fisherman was rescued, while 22 others remain missing.
Member of the National Assembly from Bannu, Maulana Naseem Ali Shah, confirmed the incident, stating that the fishermen had left Gwadar on September 6 to catch fish in Oman but unfortunately met with an accident.
He further explained that the accident was caused when a fire broke out in the compressor of their launch. A nearby ship’s crew managed to save one individual, but there has been no trace of the other 22 men.
Meanwhile, the families of the missing fishermen said they have been trying to contact the Pakistani Embassy in Oman. They appealed to both the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Oman to take immediate steps to help locate their loved ones.
