Namibia sealed their spot in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after comfortably defeating Tanzania in the African Qualifier semifinal. This will be Namibia’s fourth appearance at the mega event, having previously featured in the 2021, 2022, and 2024 editions.
In the second semifinal, Zimbabwe outclassed Kenya by seven wickets to secure their ticket to the World Cup. Earlier, Italy made history by qualifying for the T20 World Cup for the first time through the European Qualifiers, while the Netherlands also earned their place from the region.
According to the ICC, the upcoming T20 World Cup will feature 20 teams. Hosts India and Sri Lanka will be joined by Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, USA, and New Zealand, who all earned direct qualification by reaching the Super Eight stage in the previous tournament.
Additionally, Pakistan, Ireland, and New Zealand qualified based on ICC T20I rankings. The remaining three slots will be filled through qualifiers from the Americas, Asia, and East Asia Pacific regions before the full lineup is announced.
The expansion of the tournament and inclusion of new nations has further boosted excitement among cricket fans worldwide.
