The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning to stage the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after Ramadan, likely in April and May next year.
According to sources, the board is also considering adding two new teams to the tournament, which could result in a scheduling clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Sources revealed that several issues between the PSL franchises and the PCB remain unresolved, and no formal meeting has yet taken place to finalize the format, schedule, or expansion plans for the next edition.
Reports indicate that due to the T20 World Cup being held early next year, organizing the PSL in its usual February–March window will not be possible. Ahead of the World Cup, Pakistan is set to play a three-match T20I series against Australia, followed by a two-Test series against Bangladesh.
After the T20 World Cup, Pakistan and Australia will play a three-match ODI series, while Bangladesh’s white-ball series will likely take place after May.
Pakistan’s tour of Bangladesh will include three ODIs and three T20Is, while Pakistan will also play three ODIs and three T20Is against Zimbabwe. Given this tight international schedule, the PCB is considering holding the PSL in April and May to ensure player availability and smooth logistics.
Meanwhile, the IPL’s next season is scheduled from March 15 to May 31, raising the possibility of another overlap between the two major cricket leagues. As a result, many international players may have to choose between participating in either the PSL or IPL.
