Following early closures at several schools, colleges, and universities across Karachi, police issued an official response addressing rumors circulating on social media about potential protests in different areas of the city. According to officials, there are currently no major demonstrations taking place, and citizens have been urged not to believe unverified information.
Police stated that Section 144 is in effect throughout Karachi to maintain public order, and strict action will be taken against any violations. Heavy contingents have been deployed at key locations, and law enforcement is fully prepared to respond to any protests.
Officials confirmed that demonstrators in New Karachi were dispersed and that 10 individuals involved in rioting were arrested with cases registered against them. Legal action will also be taken against those inciting unrest.
In a separate statement, SSP Korangi clarified that there were no protests anywhere within the district, and all roads and markets are functioning normally. Citizens were advised not to rely on unverified social media reports and to call the police emergency helpline 15 in case of any incident.
Meanwhile, SSP Central said that attempts by Tehreek-e-Labbaik activists to stage protests in New Karachi were foiled, and traffic flow has been restored. Police took control of the area after stone-pelting and arson incidents at Sindhi Hotel, using tear gas to disperse the crowd. Several individuals involved in the violence have been arrested, and additional contingents have been deployed to maintain control and prevent further escalation.
