Internet users across Pakistan are likely to experience slow speeds or partial disruptions today as maintenance work begins on the international submarine cable network. The temporary service interruption is part of an essential technical upgrade aimed at ensuring long-term network stability.
According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) Group, the maintenance is necessary to improve service reliability and prevent potential future outages.
The international cable consortium has scheduled the repair of a critical repeater installed in the undersea cable system. The maintenance work officially began at 11:00 a.m. on October 14.
The process is expected to take approximately 18 hours, during which internet speeds across the country may be significantly affected. In some regions, partial service interruptions could also occur, depending on the network load and traffic flow.
The PTCL spokesperson emphasized that the technical work is essential to enhance the performance and stability of the internet network. The company also issued an apology to users for any temporary inconvenience caused by this maintenance activity.
PTCL has assured users that the internet service will be fully restored as soon as the work is completed, and they will once again be able to enjoy improved connectivity and stable speeds.
