An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan for the third time and ordered that she be arrested and presented before the court. The court also issued non-bailable warrants for her guarantor, Umar Sharif.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah of the anti-terrorism court heard the case against Aleema Khan and 10 other accused related to the November 26 protest. Due to her absence, the court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for her for the third time.
The court directed Rawalpindi Police to arrest Aleema Khan and produce her before the court on the 22nd. Warrants were also issued against her guarantor.
Ten other accused appeared before the court along with five prosecution witnesses and evidence. The court instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi to verify the guarantor’s property documents.
A large number of female police personnel were deployed outside the court before the hearing. The prosecutor stated that her bail would be revoked due to her absence.
The defense counsel argued that the arrest warrants against Aleema Khan are illegal and that the unilateral framing of charges is unlawful. He said that the terrorism clauses in the case have already been challenged and are pending hearing, making the charge-sheeting illegal.
