Islamabad: A new era has begun in the relations between the two brotherly countries after the important meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
In this meeting held in the Saudi capital Riyadh on October 27, 2025, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed on a framework for economic cooperation that will prove to be the basis for a long-term partnership between the two countries.
According to the joint statement of the meeting, this framework not only renews the 8-decade-long historical relations between the two countries but also reflects the shared commitment to Islamic brotherhood, sisterhood, and development.
This agreement aims to take cooperation in the economic, trade, investment, and development sectors to new heights so that the people of both countries can directly benefit.
The statement clarified that under the new framework, strategic projects will be launched that will enhance the role of the private sector, increase trade exchanges, and establish strong links between the business communities of the two countries. These projects include key sectors such as energy, industry, mining, IT, tourism, agriculture, and food security.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are already working on several joint economic projects, including a memorandum of understanding for an electricity interconnection project and agreements for cooperation in the energy sector.

This economic framework reaffirms the shared vision of the leadership of both countries, which is based on sustainable development, trade partnerships, and public prosperity.
The announcement said that this agreement will provide vast opportunities not only at the government level but also for the private sector, investors, and businesses, which is expected to increase the volume of mutual trade many times over.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed their determination to further strengthen Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations in line with the economic and technological needs of the new era. The two leaders also agreed to hold the next meeting of the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council at an early date to enable immediate implementation of the decisions reached.
