Gold prices in Pakistan continued their upward trend today, with a notable increase recorded in the local bullion markets. According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association, gold became more expensive on Monday, the first trading day of the week, pushing domestic rates close to their all-time high.
The report stated that on Friday, the price of 24-karat gold rose by Rs 1,600 per tola, taking the new cost to Rs 443,762 per tola. This sharp rise within a single day is being viewed as a significant jump and has added further pressure on regular buyers across the country.
Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold increased by Rs 2,572 and reached Rs 380,454. The continuous surge in prices has created difficulties for families preparing for weddings, particularly women interested in purchasing gold jewellery. Shopkeepers say that customer flow was already slow and these new prices may further affect sales in the coming days.
In the international market, gold also gained momentum, rising by $16 and reaching $4,214 per ounce.
Silver prices have also increased in Pakistan. The new per-tola price of silver rose by Rs 30 to reach Rs 6,102, while the price of 10 grams went up by Rs 26 to Rs 5,319.
It is worth mentioning that on the last trading day of the previous week, gold prices in Pakistan had recorded a decline of Rs 2,300 per tola, while international gold dropped by $23 per ounce.
