Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar has stated that after violating prison rules, there is not even a one percent chance for anyone to meet Imran Khan.
Speaking in a television interview, Atta Tarar said that according to a recent Transparency International survey, 66 percent of respondents confirmed that they did not pay bribes for government services, indicating improved transparency and merit-based governance in the country. He added that Pakistan has now moved from the fear of default toward economic stabilization and gradual progress.
He said reforms under the IMF program and Pakistan’s exit from the FATF grey list have strengthened the economic structure. The IMF has appreciated the government’s reform framework, and political influence in the Federal Board of Revenue has been eliminated.
Atta Tarar mentioned that in 2019, during the PTI government, a report warned of a sugar shortage and recommended that export be stopped. In contrast, during the current government, sugar stocks were sufficient and export was allowed. He added that even the IMF report has referenced sugar-related issues in the PTI period.
He said the government is moving toward deregulation and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered a crackdown against sugar hoarders. Every sugar bag leaving the mills now carries a QR code to ensure traceability. Warehouses were sealed and arrests were made wherever hoarding was detected, resulting in a clear reduction and stabilization in sugar prices.
On the question of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he stated that the Constitution allows this when governance collapses or law and order deteriorates. If Governor’s Rule is imposed, it will be done with full constitutional justification.
Regarding visits to Imran Khan in Adiala Jail by family members or party leaders, Atta Tarar said there is absolutely no possibility of anyone meeting him after violations of the jail rules.
