According to the Meteorological Department, cold northeasterly winds are currently blowing in Karachi, maintaining chilly weather conditions, while the city’s minimum nighttime temperature is expected to remain between 10 and 11 degrees Celsius from Thursday.
Met Office spokesperson Anjum Nazir said that the intensity of cold weather is likely to increase further on Saturday and Sunday, during which the nighttime temperature may drop into single digits. He added that the minimum temperature in Karachi could be recorded as low as 9 degrees Celsius.
The spokesperson further said that no rainfall is expected in Karachi or most parts of Sindh over the next ten days, and dry weather conditions are likely to persist.
The Meteorological Department noted that a new western weather system may affect the upper regions on January 18 or 19, while a forecast regarding its possible impact on Sindh will be issued at a later stage.
