Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has issued directives to improve the supply of gas to domestic consumers and has also ordered the submission of a weekly report on gas demand and supply. Addressing a meeting, the minister stated that gas companies have been instructed to provide immediate relief to household consumers to reduce public hardship.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said that the option of diverting additional gas from the industrial sector to the domestic sector is under active consideration to address shortages at the household level. He added that the Petroleum Division is monitoring the overall gas situation daily at 10 a.m. to ensure the timely resolution of emerging issues.
During the meeting, officials from Sui Northern informed that consultations are underway to extend the gas suspension for industries from one day to two days. According to the officials, the restoration of two gas fields has led to a noticeable improvement in the supply situation.
The officials further stated that compared to last year, domestic consumers are currently being provided with an additional 39 MMCFD of gas, which is expected to enhance availability for households.
