The Sindh Cabinet has approved financial assistance of Rs 10 million per person for the families of those who lost their lives in the Gul Plaza tragedy, aiming to provide immediate and effective relief to the affected families.
The decision was taken during a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, where various aspects of the incident, the scale of losses, and relief measures for the victims were discussed in detail.
The meeting was informed that traders affected by the Gul Plaza incident are being provided immediate relief of Rs 550,000 each through the commissioner to cover kitchen and utility expenses. The cabinet also approved interest-free loans of Rs 10 million for each affected trader to enable them to restart their businesses.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah stated that it is the government’s responsibility to stand by the affected families and provide them with all possible support. He clarified that the loans will be provided by the Sindh government, while the interest will be paid by the government itself to ensure that traders are not burdened financially.
During the meeting, the chief minister also directed that shop facilities be provided to all affected traders within two months to facilitate the resumption of their businesses. He instructed the concerned authorities that no negligence or delay would be tolerated in the rehabilitation process.
