Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Chairman Imran Khan is in good health and was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on the recommendation of medical experts for a minor medical procedure. He clarified that the entire process was carried out in strict accordance with all rules and regulations.
Speaking to a private television channel, Attaullah Tarar explained that eye specialists examined Imran Khan in Adiala Jail and, based on their assessment, advised that he be shifted to PIMS for a routine medical procedure. He said the transfer was solely for medical reasons and followed established protocols.
According to the information minister, medical experts had recommended that Imran Khan be taken to PIMS for the procedure, after which he was shifted to the hospital late at night last week. He added that the procedure was carried out after obtaining Imran Khan’s written consent, and following the completion of medical formalities and necessary instructions, he was returned to Adiala Jail.
Attaullah Tarar said that Imran Khan remained fully stable throughout the medical procedure and no complications were reported. He added that under jail rules, all prisoners are entitled to medical facilities, and the same standard was applied in this case as well.
The federal minister emphasized that the medical procedure was conducted on the advice of doctors and with the full consent of the PTI founder chairman. He rejected claims aimed at creating unnecessary concern, stating that Imran Khan is healthy and continues to receive all required medical care.
It is pertinent to mention that a joint press conference by PTI and the opposition alliance was held a day earlier, during which concerns were raised regarding Imran Khan’s health. Barrister Gohar, Raja Nasir Abbas, and Salman Akram Raja were present at the press conference, where it was claimed that Imran Khan was shifted to hospital without informing party leadership and family members.
Barrister Gohar said that the last meeting with Imran Khan took place on December 20 and no meetings had been allowed since then, leading to serious concern among party leaders and family members. Opposition Leader in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas also criticized the government, saying such actions were creating unrest among the public.
Salman Akram Raja said that denying meetings with Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi was unacceptable under any circumstances, adding that a petition had been filed in court on the matter. He demanded that the PTI founder chairman be allowed to meet his personal physician and family members.
