Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during his visit to Doha, where the two leaders held detailed discussions on various aspects of bilateral relations and cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar. The meeting also reviewed avenues to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
According to the official statement, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir were also present during the meeting, highlighting its significance.
During the talks, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the brotherly and longstanding relations between Pakistan and Qatar. They emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in economic, trade, investment, and other sectors. The Emir of Qatar expressed his resolve to elevate economic partnership to a higher strategic level and expand joint initiatives.
The leaders also exchanged views on regional and global developments, particularly recent significant events. They agreed on the importance of resolving conflicts through peaceful means, promoting diplomacy, and encouraging dialogue. Both sides underscored the need to maintain close coordination and consultation on key regional matters.
According to the statement, the Emir of Qatar accepted the Prime Minister’s invitation and agreed to undertake an official visit to Pakistan later this year. It is worth noting that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha on a two day visit, during which he held meetings with senior officials and reviewed opportunities for enhanced cooperation across various sectors.
