Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will meet President Asif Ali Zardari this evening to discuss the possible implementation of a smart lockdown across the country, along with other key national and regional matters.
According to sources, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the Finance Minister, and the Petroleum Minister are expected to attend the meeting, while PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will also be present.
The meeting will include detailed discussions on the evolving regional tensions, and the President will be briefed on the proposed smart lockdown measures within the country.
Sources added that Pakistan’s offer to mediate in the ongoing US-Iran tensions will also be reviewed during the meeting, focusing on its diplomatic aspects.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government has taken key austerity measures, including work-from-home on Friday, while the provincial cabinet has decided not to take salaries for three months.
Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon stated that the provincial government will support federal decisions aimed at addressing fuel shortages and will continue taking measures until the situation stabilizes.
He added that if the federal government imposes a lockdown, the Sindh government will fully implement it.
