The government has decided not to impose a smart lockdown in the country, opting instead for alternative measures to balance energy conservation and economic activity.
According to sources, a meeting chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari agreed against implementing a smart lockdown, with the proposal rejected due to opposition from the provinces.
The meeting discussed the option of a smart lockdown for energy savings, but no consensus could be reached, leading to a shift toward other solutions.
The government has decided to adopt alternative measures and directed authorities to take all possible steps to provide relief to the public amid inflationary pressure.
It was also decided that despite pressure on oil and gas supplies, fuel availability will be ensured, and proposals to increase petroleum prices have been rejected.
