ISLAMABAD: The federal government has banned government employees from using social media without permission.
In the office memorandum issued by the Establishment Division, it has been stated that government employees cannot use any social media platform without permission.
According to the memorandum, this decision has been taken to prevent the disclosure of official information and documents, in which government servants have been directed to abide by the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1964.
The office memorandum states that a public servant cannot express opinions or rhetoric on social media without permission, a public servant cannot share official documents and information with unrelated persons, and a public servant cannot express such opinions or facts that may harm the government.
