Authorities in Qatar have arrested 313 individuals for allegedly spreading misleading information and rumors, warning that strict action will continue against those sharing unverified content on social media.
According to Arab media reports, the detained individuals belong to various nationalities, and legal action is being taken against them under cybercrime laws.
The Qatari Ministry of Interior said the arrests were made by the specialized unit responsible for preventing cybercrimes. Officials stated that the individuals were involved in spreading rumors and misleading information that could create public confusion and concern.
The statement added that some individuals had recorded unauthorized video clips and circulated them on social media platforms, which constitutes a violation of official directives and regulations.
Authorities urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and avoid sharing any material that may contain false or misleading content.
