During the holy month of Ramadan, hot weather is expected to persist in the plains of Pakistan, while cooler conditions are forecast for some northern regions. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also warned of a possible heatwave in Sindh this month.

According to the Meteorological Department, nearly the first half of Ramadan has passed without rainfall, leading to temperatures rising above normal levels. Authorities say the intensity of heat is likely to increase further in most plain areas of the country.

Deputy Director Meteorology Irfan Wark stated that most plain regions are expected to experience warm weather in the coming days. He added that a new system of western winds may affect northern areas early next week, bringing cloud cover and relatively cooler conditions there.

The department has also issued a warning about a potential heatwave in Sindh due to rising temperatures. Irfan Wark said temperatures in several parts of Sindh have already exceeded 37 degrees Celsius, and if they reach 40 degrees in some areas, heatwave conditions may develop.

Additionally, rising temperatures in the northern regions of Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may increase the risk of glacial lake outburst floods, posing potential threats to local communities and infrastructure.
