Islamabad: The government has decided to provide citizens with the facility to apply for passports online from home, aiming to make the passport process easier and fully digital.
In this regard, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of DG Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa, which was also attended by NADRA’s technical team to discuss various reforms in the passport system.
During the meeting, a detailed review of the current passport system was conducted, while discussions were held on aligning it with modern requirements and shifting toward a complete digital framework.
Officials were informed that, in line with the vision of the Ministry of Interior, work is underway to introduce new technologies and integrate existing policies with a modern digital system.
The meeting approved the decision to provide citizens with the facility to apply for passports online from home, with the aim of saving people from repeated visits to passport offices and simplifying the application process.
According to sources, under the new digital system, citizens will be able to complete passport applications, document verification, and other procedures online, while further steps will also be taken to make passport services faster, more transparent, and more efficient.
