The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for various parts of the country from May 7 to 11, warning of intense heat conditions in central and southern regions.
According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in several cities of Sindh and Balochistan may rise between 46 and 50 degrees Celsius, potentially creating extreme heat conditions.
Similarly, temperatures in parts of southern Punjab and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to range between 43 and 47 degrees Celsius, while Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mardan, Nowshera, and Peshawar may experience temperatures between 39 and 43 degrees Celsius.
Reports also indicate that temperatures in Potohar region and several cities of central Punjab, including Lahore, may rise up to 43 degrees Celsius, whereas Karachi is expected to record temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has advised citizens, especially children, elderly people, and women, to take precautionary measures, avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and increase water intake.
According to the department, weak western winds are also expected to enter the upper parts of the country between the evening of May 10 and May 13.
