New Zealand batsman Chad Bowes has set a world record for the fastest double century, scoring 205 runs not out off 103 balls with the help of 7 sixes and 27 fours. He achieved this feat while playing for Canterbury in the New Zealand Domestic Cricket One-Day Trophy.
Chad Bowes has now claimed the record for the fastest double century in List A cricket, breaking the previous record of 114 balls held by Travis Head and Narayan Jagadeesan. Bowes scored an unbeaten 205 runs off just 103 balls.
The match of the Ford Trophy was played between Canterbury and Otago Volts at Hagley Oval. Canterbury batted first, scoring 343 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs. Bowes completed his first century in the List A match off 53 balls, placing him among the list of the fastest centuries.
Previously, this record was held by New Zealand’s Ross Taylor, who scored a century off 49 balls. However, Chad Bowes surpassed Jamie How’s 11-year-old record by scoring a double century off 126 balls for Central Districts against Northern Districts in 2013.
It is noteworthy that Chad Bowes has represented New Zealand in 6 One Day Internationals and 11 T20 matches, and he has played 99 matches in List A cricket. Now, he also holds the record for the fastest double century.
