Lahore: Firdous Ashiq Awan Resigns as Information Secretary of Istehkam Pakistan Party
Firdous Ashiq Awan, the Information Secretary of the Istehkam Pakistan Party (IPP), has stepped down from her position.
She submitted her resignation to IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan, citing personal commitments and health issues as reasons for her decision. However, she said she would continue serving the party as a member.
Dr. Awan, a seasoned politician with a political career spanning over two decades, has held significant roles in various political parties.
She began her political journey with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and served as the Federal Minister for Population Welfare during Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani’s tenure from 2008 to 2011.
In 2011, she parted ways with PPP and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), where she held the key position of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting.
After leaving PTI, Dr. Awan aligned herself with the Istehkam Pakistan Party, where she was appointed as the Central Information Secretary.
