Lahore: Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah has stated that the conduct of two senior judges of the Supreme Court in certain matters is such that it could be made a reference.
In an interview, he said that in the Supreme Court, eight judges were on one side while seven were on the other. He added that letters were written and then released to the media. Commenting on Salman Akram Raja, he said that if he speaks with a political agenda in mind, that is his choice.
He questioned whether the Constitution mandates that reasons for transfers be provided, adding that the Constitution states that a judge’s consent must be included in case of transfer.
Rana Sanaullah further said that the general behavior of the two senior judges is such that they write letters on every issue. The recipient of these letters receives them later, while they are first leaked to the media. He also remarked that if someone engages in propaganda that tarnishes the reputation of the entire institution, it could be linked to misconduct.
He clarified that this matter has never been discussed in the cabinet. He accused the judges of obstructing the functioning of the Supreme Court, saying that they oppose every matter, boycott proceedings, or write letters.
