The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecast rainfall in various parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Potohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan from today until June 18, while intense heat is expected in the plains.
According to the advisory, most areas of Punjab may experience severe heat between June 13 and 16, while upper regions, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Potohar, are likely to receive rainfall.
NDMA has predicted hot and dry weather in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, although some areas such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Haripur, Bannu, Nowshera, and Waziristan may experience thunderstorms and rain.
Severe heatwave conditions are also expected to persist in most areas of Sindh and Balochistan from June 13 to 18. Many parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir will also remain under the grip of heat; however, rain is expected in Astore, Skardu, Hunza, Shigar, Bagh, and Neelum Valley.
NDMA has instructed all concerned departments to ensure proactive measures to deal with any potential emergency. The public has been advised to take precautions during the extreme heat, avoid unnecessary exposure to sunlight, stay hydrated, and take special care of children, the elderly, and the sick.
Additionally, citizens have been warned not to leave children or pets unattended in parked vehicles under any circumstances.
