Torrential rainfall in various parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi has caused severe flooding, submerging low-lying areas and disrupting traffic. Vehicles and motorcycles were stranded in several locations, while an emergency was declared in Rawalpindi following the downpour.
So far, the highest rainfall of 66mm has been recorded at Bokra. Affected areas include Blue Area, Bari Imam, Bhara Kahu, Zero Point, and Faizabad, where water accumulation caused serious inconvenience to residents.
According to WASA’s Managing Director, more than 80mm of rain has fallen in the twin cities, though the water flow in Nullah Lai remains normal. The Meteorological Department expects intermittent rain to continue.
The department also reported chances of rainfall in southern Punjab districts with partly cloudy weather, while the rest of Punjab is likely to remain hot and humid. Rain has been forecasted for Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Sargodha.
Similarly, rain is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, and Kurram.
In most parts of Sindh, hot and humid weather is expected to persist, though rain is likely in Tharparkar, Umerkot, and Mirpurkhas. In Balochistan, the forecast includes partly cloudy skies with hot and dry conditions, while Zhob, Musakhel, Kohlu, Barkhan, and Khuzdar are expected to receive rainfall.
