Umar Hayat, accused of the murder of young social media influencer Sana Yousaf, has confessed to his crime before a magistrate.
According to media reports, the 22-year-old accused recorded his confessional statement under Section 164 of the Pakistan Penal Code before Judicial Magistrate Saad Nazir.
Sources said that in his statement, Umar Hayat stated that since Sana Yousaf had refused to meet him, he lost his temper and took the extreme step of committing murder.
The accused stated that when he initially visited Sana’s house to meet her, he waited the entire day. However, Sana not only refused to meet him but also asked him to leave.
The accused further stated that on Sana Yousaf’s birthday, he brought a gift which she refused to accept.
The accused claimed that Sana called him again on June 2 for another meeting, but it still did not happen. This made him extremely angry, and in a fit of rage, he broke into her house and killed her.
It is worth mentioning that 17-year-old Sana Yousaf was murdered inside her home on the evening of June 2. The killer shot her twice in the chest, causing her to die on the spot.
Following an uproar on social media, Islamabad Police took immediate action, arrested the accused from Faisalabad, and also recovered the murder weapon.
The case of Sana Yousaf’s murder was registered at Sumbal Police Station on the complaint of her mother, Farzana Yousaf.
