Cricket is set to return to the Olympic Games after a gap of 128 years. The cricket matches at the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 will be held from July 12 to July 29.
Sources report that the administration announced the event schedule three years in advance. Both men’s and women’s cricket competitions will feature six teams each.
The opening ceremony of the event is scheduled for July 14, while the closing ceremony will take place on July 30.
According to the Olympic administration, the schedule was unveiled exactly three years ahead of the Los Angeles Olympics. The cricket tournament will be held in two phases: the first phase from July 12 to 18 and the second from July 22 to 28.
Officials stated that the cricket final will be played on July 29. However, the order of men’s and women’s matches has not yet been finalized.
As per the report, all matches will be hosted at the Pomona Fairgrounds Cricket Stadium.
The Olympic administration confirmed cricket’s return to the Games after 128 years. The ICC will make a final decision regarding qualification during its meeting in Singapore from July 17 to 20, and team selection will likely be based on ICC rankings.
